Hamburger Structure

  1. Topic sentence (a topic and a point/controlling idea) – Should provide some general ideas
  2. Supporting sentences (supporting topic or details)
  3. Concluding sentence (restatement, summary, kickoff)

I hate Monday for many reasons.(Topic sentence)
I hate and many reasons are controlling idea.

One reason is work. (topic) I get up early to go to work on Monday. After a weekend of fun and relaxation, I do not like to do this. (details)

Another reason that I do not like Monday is that I have three meetings every Monday. (topic) These meetings last a long time, and they are extremely boring. (details)

Traffic is also a big problem on Monday. (topic) There are more cars on the road on Monday. Drivers are in a bad mood, and I must be more careful than usual. (details)
